Discipline Procedures

My discipline procedure has consequences for both positive and negative behavior.  If a student makes a poor choice, he/she is asked to bring his/her Smartie Roll card to me to have a box x-ed out and initialed by me.  This emphasizes consequences for actions.  At the end of each day, if the child does not have any x’s in the two boxes for that day, he/she will put a smiley face in each box.  Each week a student can earn 10 smiley faces, if there is 5 days of school.  A student wants to keep his/her card clear of x’s, so he/she can purchase items at the Smartie Shop.  At the end of the week, each child will count the number of smiley face boxes and that will be the number he/she has to “spend” at the Smartie Shop.  As a class we have decided to open the store once a week, where everyone has the opportunity to shop.  Each child may choose to purchase an item with his/her smiley faces or save them for a larger “priced” item.
