Future Business Leaders of America

                 On Tuesday, January 8th, a group of 46 FBLA members attended the Western Area Conference in Macomb. The conference is held once a year and Western Illinois University and this year, there were five other school competing, besides Central. Prior to this date, each member signed up for a business test in which he/she wished to take. The members are given one hour to complete a 100 question test. After testing, the students break for lunch and then go back to Western for an awards ceremony. Before the awards are presented, there is a Battle of the Chapters. This year, Central placed second in this competition. After the Battle of the Chapters, awards are presented to those students that placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their test. Eighteen members from Central placed and now have the opportunity to attend the state conference in April. After the awards are presented, the new officers are inducted in for the 2008 - 2009 school year. This year, two of the officers were from Central: Kelsey Taylor and Jessie Waters. Congratulations everyone!

 

             FBLA sold Valentine grams to high school teachers and students for Valentine’s Day. This fundraiser was a great success. The money raised will be used to help offset the expenses for those students attending the state conference in April.
