2019-2020 Back to School Letter:

Dear Parents, Guardians & Students,

I hope you have had time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. School is just around the corner, and all of us at Central Elementary are anxious to see you!

I am looking forward to serving our students as Principal for a 15th year and continuing to find ways to make every student grow in education. I am very happy to be working in a great district where all stakeholders; administrators, teachers, parents, support staff, and community members are focused on what is best for all students.

Below, you will find information pertaining to registration and a variety of other topics. Please take some time to read through this letter. If you have any additional questions, please contact the school.

Registration Days will only be at the CHS IRC! We will not be at CES during these times. You will be able to register online for all students PreK - 12th through the district's website under the Parent Connect link.

Thursday, August 1st

2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Friday, August 2nd

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 – Closed for lunch

1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

At registration:

  • enrollment form(s) will be updated and turned in to the school office.

  • book fees will be paid and breakfasts / lunches may be purchased.

  • bus transportation information, and P.T.O. information will be available.

  • applications for free and reduced meals will be available.

  • student certified birth certificates that are not on file must be turned in.

Book Fees

Students must pay a $60.00 book fee. Checks should be made out to Central Elementary School.

Breakfast and Lunch Program

Lunches are $2.25 per day. Breakfasts are $1.50 per day - (Forty cents for reduced lunches – thirty cents for reduced breakfast, if the application form for free and / or reduced lunches is filled out and approved by principal.) At the Elementary, Kindergarten through Second Grade students may purchase a snack milk daily. This snack milk is optional and is in addition to the milk that comes on their lunch tray. The milk is 40 cents per carton and the cost will come out of the child’s lunch account.

Health Physicals for All New Students

According to state law, all Kindergarten students and students new to the school from out-of-state must take a physical examination. Parents may have the examination given by their own family doctor BEFORE REGISTRATION DAY and bring the form when they come to register. An Illinois doctor must conduct the student’s physical. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from school.

Dental Examinations

State Law (105 ILCS 5/27-8.1 (1/5) of the School Code) requires that dental examination data for children in grades Kindergarten, second, and sixth grade must be submitted to their school of enrollment. The elementary school will need copies of dental examinations if your student is in Kindergarten or 2nd Grade.

Vision Examinations

All Illinois children in kindergarten or upon first entry into an Illinois school beyond Kindergarten (i.e., grades 1-12) are required to have an eye examination. Examinations must be performed by a licensed optometrist or medical doctor who performs eye examinations, as specified in Illinois Department of Public Health administrative rules. He/she shall complete and sign the Eye Examination Report form, as designated and available on the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education websites.

Student Attendance Hours

Student attendance hours for the 2019 -2020 school year are 8:15 a.m – 2:45 p.m.
