As we have done since the start of the pandemic, Central CUSD 3 will follow the most up-to-date guidance. In accordance with the most recent release of CDC, IDPH, and ISBE school guidance, layered mitigations will still be in place, such as physical distancing, masking in certain settings (public transportation – buses, large gatherings – assemblies), quarantining, testing, and increased sanitizing, especially in common areas.
This plan is based on current conditions with input from the local health department. If local conditions change, mitigations may be removed or added, as deemed necessary by the local health department or the School Board. Changes and reasons for those changes will be shared with the community in a timely manner. Should an outbreak occur in a building, masking will likely be required until the local health department and School Board agree it is safe to once again remove that layer of mitigation.
This plan is not going to please everyone 100%. Some are ready to move on with no restrictions, while some are still seriously concerned about COVID exposure. Our goal is to provide the quality education students need in the safe, healthy environment they deserve. Below are the parts of the plan that follow CDC, IDPH, and ISBE guidance:
· School will be in session full days with in-person learning for everyone that is able.
· Every student should have a mask with them at school in case of an unexpected need.
· Masks are not required outdoors.
· Masks are not required in most settings for vaccinated individuals.
· Masks are highly recommended in most settings for unvaccinated individuals. Parents and their children should have conversations about what is best for them.
· Buses are limited to 50 individuals.
· Masks are required for ALL individuals on buses to and from school, field trips, athletic events, etc. This is a state AND federal mandate.
· Masks are required for ALL individuals in close settings, such as assemblies, when physical distancing (3 ft.) can’t be maintained.
· When individuals are identified as a close contact to an individual who has tested positive for COVID, they will be placed in quarantine. Individuals who are not experiencing any symptoms and
o Produce proof of vaccination, or
o Produce proof of positive antibodies
will be released from quarantine.
· Individuals who are experiencing COVID symptoms, and their household members, should stay home until proof of a negative COVID test is produced. The school can perform the test upon request.
